Branding: Micheal Rivers and The Black Witch

Branding the author and their books

Branding

The cover art was done by Ryan Bibby of Novel Branding. Ryan is exceptional to work with as well as being extremely talented.

Most everyone has heard the term author branding.  Your brand or name recognition conveys who you are to your readers and what you represent. In my case, I write paranormal stories. My novels cross over to the thriller, horror, and suspense genres as well.

When readers see my books I want them to instantly recognize the brand and what it stands for. Example: The cover above suggests a horror and paranormal aspect to the story.

My brand revolves around who I am and something that I enjoy immensely; the paranormal world. Simply stated, I'm a southern man who loves the mountains of North Carolina and ghosts! This is reflected in my writing, vocabulary, accent and my author photographs. When readers come to my website they can expect to find new book releases, articles, and interviews that encompass paranormal topics. A radio interview on the sidebar of my website plays my undeniable southern accent. In addition, they can visit my Facebook fan page and my paranormal investigative team activities, photos and more. There you have it, this is the story of how I am building my author brand. "Be the host to your ghost" Y'all come on by to visit. You're always welcome.

Drop me a line anytime, my email is contact@michealrivers.com  I look forward to your feedback, questions, or just a note to say hello!

It is my hope, that you the readers, enjoy my novels. I want to give you the very best I have to offer.

  1. Micheal – I LOVE the new cover art! Very very cool 🙂

  2. I’ll just pop in to say I haven’t read any of your books (yet! I will!) but I do love your covers. They have a very Gothic feel to them, which is definitely something that draws my interest.
Also, I am very interested in the paranormal. Have had a few experiences myself.

    Michael

I appreciate your interest Michael. The cover artist was spot on depicting what I had in mind for the covers. It’s like he read my mind. I would love to hear your stories sometime. When you have a chance, if you haven’t already, check out my paranormal group on FB. Lot of great pics and evp’s.

      • Sure! After this weekend (I’m busy with a book launch) I’ll send you an email. Mind you, I’m not one of those people who thinks every dust speck is a ghost, every flare a UFO. I actually require fairly hard evidence to be convinced. But I’ve had a couple of strange experiences.

    Micheal,
I just finished reading your ebook “The Black Witch”. First of your books I have read. I found it to be very interesting and very detailed. Your knowledge of sailing an old sailing vessel, the crew and captain made the story very believable. I felt like I was experiencing what was happening. Sometimes that was very scary for me because of the paranormal activity. But that is what made it so different. Never a dull moment in the story and I felt like I knew all the
characters in the book. I do believe there are ghosts, good and bad. Story never lags and has a surprise ending. For me anyway, because I had not figured out what was going to happen. Next book of yours to read is “Midnight on Nantahala” which I am really looking forward to since I grew up close by.

    • avatarMicheal Rivers says:

Thank you Carolyn. I am glad you enjoyed it. Moonlight on the Nantahala is unlike The Black Witch. It is a little different love story than what most are accustomed to. Growing up close by you will recognize a lot of things. A small homecoming for you.

  4. Now that is what I call EXCELLENT branding! Fantastic art work for great books…. I saw the cover on Facebook and immediately wanted to check it out. I can see I’m going to have to check out this artist for my future novels. All the best to you.

  5. avatarMicheal Rivers says:

Thank you Glenn. Mr. Bibby, the man who designed the covers is very easy to work with and I will gladly recommend his designs any time. http://novelbranding.com/
