Love is Forever

Edward is an elderly man independently living on his own in town with the help of Betty his sassy live-in housekeeper and friend. Celia, his one and only, died three years into their marriage. He longs for a glimpse of Celia, whose ghost others have seen, but it’s not to be for him. His joy comes from visiting his home he shared with her on the banks of the Nantahala River.
Lena, a young woman, has been coming to the tranquil banks of the Nantahala near Edward’s home for the past three years. She finally meets him and belatedly asks his permission to be on his land. He senses Lena's troubles instantly. Being a wise man, he lets her story unfold slowly as she becomes comfortable telling it.
Lena, Edward and Betty all begin a wonderful friendship. As the relationship between Edward and Lena grows he sees her like the daughter he and Celia never had. Lena’s marriage is crumbling and Edward is driven to keep her safe. Nonnegotiable conditions may change Lena’s life forever.
Through the characters we realize how precious friendship is. His tale reminds us that love has no boundary and life is lived too fast and much is missed. Moonlight on the Nantahala teaches us love is forever.

"...an extraordinary job with his modern fiction Moonlight on the Nantahala. Once you start putting it down will be one of the harder things you will have to do."   - Tracy Riva of Midwest Book Review

"This novel stirred my soul and left me moved beyond belief. The story is almost a memoir of Edward Caulfield's life and the love he had for his beautiful deceased wife, Celia. He shares his haunting tale through visits with a lonely young woman, Lena.  Lena has her own troubled past that is detailed within. I felt as if I walked through every memory and heartbreak with the characters."   - Author Michelle Hughes
